There’s nothing quite so satisfying (and challenging!) as building something that is fundamentally new, and that makes it easy for people to accomplish tasks that otherwise would be difficult, if not impossible.
Building repubHub has been one of those satisfying challenges for the team at iCopyright. And so it was very rewarding for us to be recognized by the Software
and Information Industry (SIIA) as the “Best Service Using Aggregated Content” for 2016.
The competition for the CODiE in this category this year was stiff—and intimidating.
When we were informed a few months ago that repubHub was a finalist, we saw we were up against Factiva, the high-end content aggregator and research database produced by Dow Jones. I have the greatest respect for Factiva, and have done business with them on several fronts over the course of my career. Surely our modest repubHub portal was no match against the mighty Dow Jones portal.
But the CODiEs are about more than recognizing the big and the powerful—they are
about recognizing innovation and taking bold steps to solve old problems in new
ways. As one of the initial CODiE judges said of repubHub:
I like that it eliminates the need for contracts or agreements with content providers, and opens up a world of possibilities for publishers to get new content and syndicate their own content.
The CODiE award recognizes not just iCopyright and our dedicated team—it also
recognizes that repubHub has found a need in the editorial ecosystem among websites and bloggers of all stripes and sizes. We have listened to the marketplace and we have worked hard to incorporate the feedback of our publishers and republishers. Being the “best” of anything means never being satisfied with the status quo and always looking for the next feature and better ways to serve our users.
So, I hope you’ll find a bit of added satisfaction in knowing that a service you have helped us build and improve has been recognized by industry experts as “the best.”
Thank you for helping us get here.
